The purpose of this study was to criticize the book “Methodology of Religious Studies (New Edition)”, written by Faramarz Gharamlaki in 2013. The book was evaluated from two dimensions of form and content. Formally, the book met most of the requirements and was evaluated favorably. In terms of content, the book contains technical points in most of the book’s chapters which can prepare the reader for research, using the current scientific approaches. Indeed, this book is an extension of the methods accepted in current scientific research. Of course, the author has made great efforts to document the methods using religious texts; however, the base of most parts of the book is the same as the common sciences. To explain the hierarchy of religious science, to set up a methodological system appropriate to Islamic worldview, ontology, and epistemology, a serious effort of religious scholars is needed in order to development of the methodology of Islamic humanities.

The purpose of this study was to review the book entitled "The Identity of Religious Science: An Epistemological View in Relation to Religion and Human Sciences" (Bagheri, 2003). In terms of form, the book had the most sought criteria and was therefore desirable. The author, in content, has shown an attempt to achieve a religious model in proving science and paying attention to the experience. However, the book also has some shortcomings, including: 1) neglecting the interactive effect of the senses, wisdom and heart, 2) reduction of reality to evident reality, 3) lack of logical link between ontology, epistemology and methodology, and 4) reducing the sources of knowledge and limiting the criterion of certainty to empirical matters. Given that a) the senses, wisdom, and the intuitive perceptions form knowledge in permanent interaction, b) all human experiences are related to the rational insight and the intuitive belief of the individual that is determined; therefore, it is desirable that Muslim scholars, based on the interaction and coordination between the senses and the mind and the heart, explain the way in which the human perceptual system is manifested, providing criteria for distinguishing correct perception of incorrect perception.

The aim of the present study was a review of “Conceptual Creative Realism” as a methodological model of Islamic science (Iman & Kelateh Sadati, 1392). The model had some strong points including a new presentation of science structure as well as a new definition congruent with the Islamic point of view entered in a new paradigm. Besides, the model defined hierarchy of knowledge in different ways where the God’s laws would be at the top of this hierarchy. Reality is further up observations and objective experiences as well as the correct criterion defined according to Islamic direction. o On the contrary, the model had some drawbacks including speaking in general, not specified, and missing links between the different concepts, as well as having ambiguity responding how we can specify the borders between different knowledge sources such as sensation experiences, wisdom, and intuition. In sum, the evaluated model seems to be an effective model which contributes to the Islamic science.
